Job Description
We are seeking a Manager / Senior Manager
Valuation for Audit is a team of specialized auditors performing work on the review of valuation of private assets. The team is composed of professionals with a hybrid background from audit and valuations/corporate finance. The team covers all alternative asset classes including Private equity, Private debt, Infrastructure, Venture capital as well as other illiquid assets such as non-performing loans. The team is expanding at a rapid pace in line with the growth of our Private Equity/Private Assets Sector.
What you will be working on
- Manage audit engagements by defining the audit strategy with regards to the investments valuation in consultation with the partner and execute it in compliance with audit methodology and standards
- Evaluate private assets investments’ valuations for audit purpose. This includes different asset classes such as: Infrastructure, Private equity, private debt, venture capital, non-performing loans. When required, you will personally execute complex audit procedures and lead teams on engagements
- Challenges client valuations using widely spread valuation techniques under IPEV or other valuation framework (Discounted cash flow method, market multiples)
- Document valuation review work in accordance with audit methodology and standards.
- Manage the audit process in an efficient manner to meet deadlines, ensure coaching of staff and liaise with internal stakeholders (partners, audit teams, other specialists) and external stakeholders (investment managers, external clients)
- Make qualitative discussions on-site or offsite with external audit clients on key valuation inputs and assumptions (e.g participation to valuation committee). It may include travelling on an ad-hoc basis
- Verify adequacy of the fair value disclosures in the financial statements (e.g IFRS 13 levels disclosures, US GAAP ASC 820)
- Continuously train to new audit standards and valuations techniques and guidelines such as IPEV (valuation accreditation will be supported)
- Coach more junior valuation staff and auditors on valuation matters
- Maintain cooperative relationships with other audit teams
- Develop and maintain long-term productive client relationships and networks
What we look for
- At least six years of experience working in audit or a relevant valuation role
- Bachelor's/Master's Degree in Finance, Accounting or Computer Science
- Knowledge of private equity/debt valuation including market approach (such as market multiples) and income approach (discounted cash flow techniques).
- Working knowledge of accounting and auditing requirements with respect to fair value measurement of financial instruments.
- Highly motivated individual with strong management and communication skills to enable clear articulation while working with audit clients.
- Strong project management as well as analytical skills, sharp attention for detail, proven ability to meet tight deadlines, while working in a collaborative team environment
- Fluency in English. French and German are preferred however not mandatory.
- CFA, CAIA or FMVA preferred
